MotorbikesBikes... There's nothing better, especially in Australia where the weather is warm and kind most of the time.Back in 1995, I took my 'L' plate test and got a Yamaha XS250. It was a lovely looking old thing. What it lacked in power, it made up for in character *ahem*. One of the first places I rode to was from Sydney to Melbourne and at the time I did it, I wrote a news-post about the journey. The wonders of Google found it after I had lost it and I have been able to put it back on my site, here. It may be of some interest to note that even though I wrote this back in 1995, I still consider the route to be one of the most enjoyable I have found. That's comparing it with the likes of the Oxley Highway and some sneaky back-roads from Kiama through to the Kangaroo Valley. After a year of the XS, I threw away me 'P's and upgraded to a Honda CBR1000 that had been somewhat 'tweaked' by its previous owner. It had a CBR600 front wheel, a fireblade rear, a 4-in-1 exhaust and numerous other little touches. It was a powerful bike - rumour has it that it had pull-started a mini a few times. I got sandwiched between a cop car and some guy who could'nt stop in time and that was the end of that bike chapter. It really pisses me off that NSW doesn't have compulory 3rd party property insurance. I'm now riding a CBR600. It's a very reliable bike and you wouldn't know that it was a 1992 model. It had never been dropped and still hasn't unless you count the two times it toppled over due to soggy tarmac.
